World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi showcases latest technologies and solutions in achieving net-zero

Hugh Fraser International was delighted to make a raft of new connections with advanced energy technology providers at the World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi.

At the World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi the theme of battery storage technology was prominent.  Dr Matthias Vetter, of the Fraunhofer IIS Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Germany presented on ‘Battery storage: key enabler for large-scale integration of renewable energies’ and it was a pleasure to meet Dr Matthias Vetter in person.

It was great to meet Maarten Kanters, of Norway’s Cambi Invest at WUC. Cambi’s thermal hydrolysis processes are at the heart of advanced treatment of sewage sludge and bio-degradable waste. Cambi’s tech innovation reduces emissions in the wastewater sector.

It was interesting to understand the pivotal role of ESG and green investments in the energy transition. Ennis Rimawi, Managing Director, Catalyst Investment Management, a specialised energy and water sector investment management company operating in Jordan, took part on a global panel to discuss ‘The role of ESG and sustainable finance in the power, water, gas and district cooling’.

It was great to catch up EIC (Energy Industries Council)’s Ryan McPherson and the HFI team is looking forward to follow on the EIC Connect UAE in Abu Dhabi on 16th May.
