HFI launches new UAE Employment Law and Practice Guidance 2022 with major legal reforms pending

HFI has launched its new UAE Employment Law and Practice Guidance 2022. The Guidance tracks over 20 years’ experience of the practical application and risk management of employment law and practice in the United Arab Emirates, whether “onshore” or in key free zones such as JAFZA, DMCC, MASDAR City and DAFZA.  We also provide an update on the key legal reforms being implemented by the new Federal Labour Law on 2 February 2022.

Topics covered include the managing the “legal matrix” which constitutes the parties rights and obligations, contracts of employment, sponsorship and visas, remuneration, allowances and benefits, hours of work and leave, confidentiality, intellectual property rights, duration and termination of employment, restrictive covenants and resolution of disputes.

This is a dynamic area of the law, with the new reforms coming on top of the pending change to the UAE weekend in January and the legal reforms will be a key pillar of the UAE’s competitive strategy as it moves through the energy transition.

Copies of the Guidance are available from Irina Abidova at HFI.
